TPPS Annual Conference 2025 – Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry Paediatric Surgeons
The annual conference of the Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry Association of Paediatric Surgeons (TPPS) for the year 2025 was held in Trichy from July 11th to 13th. The event was a true academic celebration, packed with enriching activities — from live surgical workshops to prestigious orations, guest lectures, and scientific paper presentations.
Day 1 – Live Operative Workshops
The conference commenced at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital with a brief inauguration ceremony. This was followed by an impressive line-up of live operative workshops, featuring a range of surgeries including thoracoscopic lobectomy, single-stage hypospadias repair, laparoscopic anorectoplasty, laparoscopic hernia repair, cleft lip repair, and cystoscopic deflux injection. Additionally, recorded video sessions showcased advanced procedures such as robotic pyeloplasty and primary transanal pull-through. These were performed by distinguished senior surgeons from across Tamil Nadu. Thanks to seamless audiovisual integration, real-time interaction between the operating teams and the audience enriched the learning experience.
Day 2 – Scientific Presentations & Guest Lectures
The second day was dedicated to scientific paper presentations by postgraduate trainees and junior consultants from diverse institutions. Highlighted sessions included the prestigious Prof. Kesavan Urology Prize, Prof. TDS Minimal Access Surgery Prize, and the Annamalai Prize presentations. Invited national and international faculty delivered enlightening guest lectures on topics such as choledochal malformations, renal scintigraphy, and Hirschsprung disease — offering valuable insights for both budding and experienced paediatric surgeons. The day also featured an engaging postgraduate quiz, full of challenging and thought-provoking questions. The evening concluded with a vibrant gala dinner hosted by the local organizing team — a warm and festive affair where new connections were forged and long-standing bonds rekindled.
Day 3 – Paper presentations, Orations & Closing Ceremonies
The final day featured continued scientific presentations, including the Prof. BSS Oncology Prize, Prof. Gnanaseelan Prize, and Prof. Prasad Neonatology Prize papers. A captivating video session on the surgical anatomy of the lung was held, followed by the prestigious Mohammed Yusuf Oration on the pathology of paediatric solid organ tumours. The conference concluded with a heartfelt valedictory ceremony, leaving all delegates with cherished memories, renewed knowledge, and a sense of camaraderie.
